EMS Corporation, acting as consultants for the Canadian Space Agency, needed a technically advanced telescope application.

Employing several tunable, air-spaced etalon assemblies and optical contacting techniques, we overcame several, complex material challenges.

The result was a solution that combined air gap high resolution with tunable wavelength filtering.

When fully assembled, spacing between the two etalons is controlled to within 100nm.

This all-Germanium Etalon assembly employs no adhesives; all assembly is accomplished with optical contacting. Irregularity on critical surfaces is better than 0.025 fringe and parallelism is better than .25 arc sec.
